A Helping Hand with Mobile Connectivity

About us

Infralink is a mobile connectivity programme led by infrastructure specialists the Scottish Futures Trust (SFT), funded by Scottish Government.

It was established by the Digital Connectivity team within SFT to help facilitate more meaningful conversations to take place between councils and mobile network operators to improve local digital connectivity.

On the back of its success, an additional initiative called Infralink-Exchange was launched as one of eight UK-wide pathfinder projects funded by the then UK government's Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (now known as the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology and Department for Culture, Media and Sports) to explore how council-owned street furniture could be used to further improve local mobile connectivity and delivered through the Digital Connectivity Infrastructure Accelerator programme.

One of the outputs required from the UK government funding was a ‘Playbook’ or ‘how-to’ guide, to allow everything learned from the Infralink-Exchange initiative to be shared with other public bodies wishing to improve their local digital connectivity.
